Lonely Planet review for Lou Pilha Leva
With its outdoor wooden tables crammed under a tight awning, this is Nice's version of a fast-food joint: courgette fritters, sugar-beet pie, or a bowl of soupe au pistou (soup of vegetables, noodles, beans, basil and garlic) – chop-chop!

Worse restaurant in Nice!
sallymuravchik does not recommend this,
My husband and I read mostly positive reviews about Lou Pilha Leva by other tourists visiting Nice, France that recommended this reasonably priced establishment. We decided to try it for ourselves on Nov 1, 2008. The results? Unbelievably awful! We will never eat there again and advise you to avoid it. (In fact, I write this review as a public service. You have been warned. Be suspicious of good reviews of this place.)
Who cares how inexpensive the food is if it cannot be eaten? I ordered "moules frites", ie. steamed mussels with FF on the side. The mussels were totally inedible and I left them (minus the 3 that I sampled) in their bowl. They had been overcooked earlier in the evening and were now shriveled up and rubbery with a dried out exterior. Having eaten the same dish at Pecherie Saleya (delicious) a couple of days before, I knew what steamed mussels should have tasted like. The kitchen staff had to know their condition...so they must have been instructed to serve them anyway. Is it possible that the restaurant which is overwhelmingly populated by tourists (not locals) knows it can serve lousy food to tourists who are "here today, gone tomorrow" and get away with it? Bottom line - you are a sucker if you eat at Lou Pilha Leva.
