This old-town favourite has 17 lovely rooms, each individually decorated to evoke a different artist – Niki de Saint Phalle, Vaco, Klein and so forth. Riviera history buffs will appreciate the Queen Victoria room. A diminutive flower-decked roof terrace is complemented by a street terrace, ideal for watching Vieux Nice go by. Breakfast €12.50.

Offering a restaurant and free WiFi throughout, Hotel Villa La Tour is located in Nice’s Old Town. Housed in a former convent dating back from the 18th century, this hotel is 600 metres from Promenade des Anglais and the beach, and a 2-minute walk from Cathedrale Vieille Ville Tram Stop.
Each room is individually decorated and features a flat-screen TV and air conditioning. Some of them have a balcony and others offer city views. The en-suite bathrooms come with a shower, a hairdryer and free toiletries.
