Lonely Planet review

This sun-filled, spotless budget hotel is a stone's throw from the promenade. Top-floor and courtyard rooms have air-con and all rooms are equipped with fridges, handy to keep those picnic supplies and beers chilled. Try to get your hands on one of the three rooms with balcony.

Two of the Hôtel Paradis' 17 rooms are set up as 4- to 6-bed dorms, but overall they're a bit more refined than its more backpackery sibling, Meyerbeer Beach, which draws a younger, party-harder crowd. A budget hotel with boutique sensibilities, the Hôtel Paradis' French-washed walls, red and gold bedspreads and drapes, and bucolic Provençal pictures on the walls inspire a jaunt through the surrounding countryside. Some bathrooms are very plain, if clean, and others have been upgraded with blue and white tiles and double sinks. Unlike Meyerbeer Beach it doesn't have internet - but you're welcome to drop by to use the free internet over there - or kitchenettes, though some rooms have fridges. Five rooms are air-conditioned, and the rest are cooled by metallic fans. Hôtel Paradis is entirely non-smoking.

Our independent authors have visited Hostel Paradis and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Nice.
