Unless you're arriving aboard your own ocean-going liner, chances are you'll be looking to make your euros stretch a little further in Monaco. The Ambassador certainly can't boast the quality or cachet of its more upmarket neighbours, but it's a good bet for business travellers and bargain hunters.
The hotel is situated in a handy spot on the corner of ave Prince Pierre, near one of the main subway entrances to the train station and a short walk from the Port Hercule. Though it's dressed up to resemble something much more upmarket, in reality this is a bog-standard mid-range hotel. Bedrooms range from small singles to roomy suites, all decorated in similar shades of creams and yellows and kitted out with the usual selection of functional furniture; a few also have balconies, although the street view isn't particularly special. Extra features such as wi-fi Internet, cable TV, air-con and decent sound-proofing that make this the pick of the station quarter hotels; while it might not be anything to write home about, at least you'll be able to afford a stamp.
