Getting there & away
Ferries to Corsica and Sardinia are run by Corsica Ferries (0 825 095 095; Port de Commerce).
From Toulon’s bus terminal (gare routière; 04 94 24 60 00; blvd Tessé), near the train station, bus 103 to Hyères runs east along the coast via Le Lavandou to St-Tropez (€16.60, two hours, eight daily).
There are frequent train connections to coastal cities including Marseille (€12, 40 minutes), St-Raphaël (€15.10, 50 minutes), Cannes (€17.10, one hour 20 minutes), Monaco (€24, 2½ hours) and Nice (€22.30, 1¾hr).
