Le Sudouest reported this morning that the tram conductors in Bordeaux are threatening to strike during the Euro 2016 (june 7-July 14). This could cause a LOT of trouble for the gazillion visitors who plan to visit Bordeaux and surrounds and use public transportation to see the games at the Bordeaux stadium. Given the recent spate of strikes in France, it doesn't seem implausible that this will happen.
I am going to Corsica this summer. I have been going there for over 20 years now but I have always stayed in the same area in the South-Eastern. I have visited everything I could over there and I want to go to other places in this incredible island. Does anyone of you has any suggestion ? I am going with my cousin so I am looking for fun activities or cool places to see for twenty years old.
If you need information for things to do near Porto-Vecchio don't hesitate to ask me !
I'm looking for a single day bike tour (or rental and route) in Provence- hopefully through lavender fields but I'm going in early June so they may not be in bloom. I will be staying in Pont-du-gard but will have car so can drive to Avignon or somewhere else close by. Everything I'm finding is multiple day bike tours but we will only be there for a couple days so I need a day or half day tour.
I have an album by a French metal band (Peste Noire) with a title that Google translate can't do completely. Can I ask for help please?
The title is 'ballade cuntre les anemis de la france'
Google doesn't know cuntre. I'm guessing it isn't an obvious translation to an english word?
Thanksgiving week is the only time I can get away and I always wanted to visit the Loire Valley. Do you think it's mad idea, will it be completely cold and dreary? The airfare is very cheap and the hotels are inexpensive, what do you think?
I'm organising my French working holiday visa. I will be heading to Lyon when I arrive and my travel agent has suggested I fly to Geneva and train to Lyon, as it's the cheapest flight and closer to where I want to go, rather than Paris. Does the consulate specifically require a return ticket into France? I'm concerned they mighe reject my application.
I will be in Provence in 1 month and will be based in Salon de Provence. We will have a car and our 12 month old. I had planned out the itinerary but the more I read about Provence, the more unsure I feel about where I want to visit!
Day 1: Arrive by Train in Aix-en-Provence and enjoy the city for an afternoon before heading to Hotel in Salon de Provence.
Day 2: Drive along lavender route and maybe visit Lourmarin, Gorges, or St. Remy (which one?!) We love the outdoors but also love strolling…
Off to Paris for a month and was just wondering what is the cost of living there? e.g. a coffee, set meal in a non tourist menu, e.g. what do Parisians pay?
also does anyone know if there are metro or RER weekly tickets? and or special train tickets for the euros?
We are new to this forum, but wonder if anyone can recommend good accommodation in Nice which is not too expensive? Our main requirements are location, cleanliness and comfort, so it doesn't have to be upmarket as long as the fundamentals are covered. We are looking at 23 July for four nights at this point. Has anyone found that special little place in Nice? Thanks!
