Lonely Planet review
This popular three-star hotel has 42 large rooms, with high ceilings and bathrooms big enough to do jumping jacks in. We love the mix of artwork and vintage travel posters in the hallways, and the attached Au Congrès restaurant.
The cosy little bar just off the reception, with its bottles of champagne beckoning, is temptation itself; the pale lino surrounding the front desk is decidedly not. And, just for the record, sensor-driven lighting in hallways drives us batty. In general the guestrooms, spread over five floors, are tastefully appointed, though those signature colours of the 1990s - beige to oatmeal and shades in between - dominate, with burlwood the surface material of choice; you'll find it topping desks, night tables, headboards and even the minibar cabinets. The guestroom of choice is corner room No 222 facing a relatively quiet side street. It's filled with light and even catches fleeing glimpses of the cathedral.
