The Medieval Castle of Haut-Koeingsbourg in Alsace, France

The Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle is first mentioned in literature in the 12th century. During this time, it sat at a junction of wheat and wine trading routes. In the 1400′s it became a Hapsburg possession and was rebuilt as a defensive castle.

The Medieval Village of Rosheim in Alsace, France

We stayed at a small gite (which was really a two bedroom apartment) in the small medieval town of Rosheim, about 30 minutes outside of Strasbourg in Alsace, France. It was a charming, quaint and very beautiful village. We spent an hour walking around and took some photos and video and had dinner too.

The Strasbourg Cathedral is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. It’s the sixth-tallest church in the world; the church was constructed between 1176–1439. It was the world’s tallest building from 1647 to 1874. The Cathedral contains an astronomical clock; it is the third clock that has found its home there.
