It's a bit of a drive west of town (10km, in fact), but if you've got your own wheels this divine château chambre d'hôte in a 19th-century residence is well worth investigating.
At the heart of town, overlooking pedestrianised place du Vigan, this hotel of the same name has 40 spacious, modern, if unexceptional rooms and a popular brasserie below.
Friendly, welcoming and family-run, this nine-room hotel offers excellent value. Rooms are spacious, it's handy for bus and train stations and there's a small breakfast terrace.
Now part of the Logis group, this is another great old-fashioned French hotel perched on the fringes of the old city. The rooms are plain but very pleasant, but the real draw here is the excellent terroir restaurant.
This fairly basic camp site is just off route de Millau, 2km northeast of place du Vigan. Take bus No 5 from place du Vigan to the terminus.
Next door to Hôtel George V and with prices more than coincidentally tagged in parallel, this child-friendly hotel with its 13 rooms is just as warm in its welcome. Staff speak good English and there's a small rear garden. Parking around €5.
