Papa Giovanni
Close to the gallery and station, 'the papa' is a favourite among Helsinki's pasta eaters. Downstairs is a spaghetteria with reasonably priced pasta dishes and an Italian-style cafe; upstairs is a stylish restaurant and wine bar with high-backed chairs and a tempting range of Italian soups, salads and mains.

Tiglio
A pleasant find - an authentic Italian restaurant with reasonably priced meals, including a free starter buffet of fresh bread, Italian dressings, olives and vegetables. It's spacious enough to be informal but nice enough for a night out. There's a huge range of dishes; the wild salmon with shrimps is good.

Sergio's
This stylish Italian restaurant and café is a cut above most of its kind. The outside tables are perfectly poised to have a drink and do some Turku-watching. The mains are classy and the pizzas good value; there's also a decent selection of Italian wines.

San Remo
This refreshingly authentic Italian place in the middle of Finland does authentic risottos, pastas and pizzas that are best washed down with an espresso. Its upstairs location makes for a pleasant balcony meal when it’s warm.

Spaghetteria Mamma Maria
With a range of risottos, chicken, pastas and pizzas, this Italian eatery on the kauppatori is a firm Lahti favourite. Quantities are generous and the food’s tasty enough, particularly the homemade gelati.
