Land
Bus
The bus station, near the train station, has services connecting Oulu with all the main centres. These include Rovaniemi (€32.30, 3½ hours), Tornio (€18.60, 2½ hours); Kajaani (€28.10, 2½ hours) and Helsinki (€77.40, 11½ hours). To reach nearby villages, catch a local bus from the centre.
Train
The train station is just east of the centre. Six to 10 trains a day run from Helsinki to Oulu; the fastest direct train from Helsinki takes only six hours (€68). There are also trains via Kajaani.
Air
Oulu airport is one of the busiest in Finland. There are several daily direct flights from Helsinki, operated by Finnair and Blue1, as well as services from Stockholm and from other Finnish cities.
