Here's my personal experience of visiting the Santa Claus Village and my 2 failed attempts to see Aurora in Lapland:
I hope my blog post can help you find some useful tips when planning to go to Lapland. Cheers!
I know cheap and Scandinavia do not usually go together;
but, there may be some second-hand /Thrift stores *here and there.
I am trying to pack light and want to buy some clothes in Finland.

I will be in Stockholm this week
and my only concern/question is: going to Finland : am I going to have a nice trip to Turku?
or would it be nicer? cheaper to go to Helsinki ?
I will be in Helsinki later in july any way
so I think the trip to Helsinki is about 50 euros (?)for one person; I am checking timetables & fares --as we speak
Hi. I'm about to start a cycle trip from kirkenes in Norway South through Finland. I would love to do a hike and looking for recommendations. I'm experienced and wish to walk 3-5 days to see a good variety ESP hills with views. I need somewhere near the trailhead to leave my bike and gear. I have a tent stove compass etc. Any recommendations please? Thanks
Can anyone tell me the actual cost of the Ferry to Helsinki from Tallinn in Estonia. We are thinking of doing a day trip, leaving early and returning late to Tallinn. Is this a dumb idea with the 4 hour ferry ride? We will be in Tallinn in a week.
Hi Thorn Tree folks
I've been living in Helsinki for 10 years and I would like share few hints about Helsinki. You can ask more later.
The most common question from me foreign friends is what is there to do and see in Helsinki?
Well the answer is a lot, few examples:
-Historical Architecture: There'is a lot of Neo-classical and Neo-Renessains building in the heart of the City, around Senate Square. Jugend-style/Art Nouveau/Finnish National romantic -architecture from 1900 to 1910 is my personal…
We arrive in Helsinki from St. Petersburg at 2 p.m. on a Friday and leave Saturday morning. As I have an early flight out, we would like to stay near the train station where we arrive and where we can catch the train to the airport. Can someone recommend a 4 star or so hotel within walking distance of the train station which is also walking distance to sights. I know our time is limited, but what can we do in an afternoon and night in Helsinki? We would like to have dinner in a "typical"…
I would love to trek in Finland for a few days. I was wondering, what are the differences between trekking in Urho Kekkonen National Park vs. Oulanka National Park?
Is it worth it to spend more time and money to get up to Lapland to trek, or is the experience pretty similar?
Also, if there's anyone who would also like to trek at the beginning of August, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
We will be returning from Tallinn by ferry to Helsinki, (in August) and I need to know the travel time between
the ferry port and Helsinki airport, as I hope to sail back and go straight to the airport to board our
outbound flight. I'm sure there must be a direct rail link from the ferry port to the airport but everything
I have seen on other sites is old information, like from 2009. Can someone please give me current
information? Then I know which return ferry to book our tickets on. Thanks so…
