Getting around
The Savonlinna airport is 15km northeast of the centre. An airport taxi shuttle meets arriving flights during the opera season; in town it picks up at the bus station and hotels on demand (040-536 9545). The 20-minute trip costs €10 one way. A normal cab to or from the airport is €20 to €25.
The city bus service costs €2.50 per ride within the Savonlinna area.
Several car rental agencies have offices in the centre and at the airport, including Europcar(040-306 2855; airport) and Hertz (020-555 2760; Rantakatu 2).
Several places in town rent bikes, among them Savonlinnan Polkupyörähuolto (533 977; Olavinkatu 19), which charges €10 per day.
