In summer, around 30 sand artists from Finland and abroad gather to build the Hiekkalinna, a giant themed ‘sandcastle’ that uses about 180 truckloads of sand. Previous incarnations have included a Wild West scene, incorporating a gigantic steam train, and an outer space theme that brought together ET and Darth Vader.
