    Lake Cruises

    During summer there are daily departures for several different types of lake cruises. Standard two-hour cruises from the harbour depart hourly from 11:00 to 18:00. Special theme cruises include dinner and dancing, wine tasting or a trip to a local berry farm. There are also canal cruises and a monastery cruise to Valamo.

    There are cruises to Rauhalahti tourist centre Tuesday to Saturday in summer (and Sunday in July); the best one is the smoke-sauna cruise on Tuesday and Thursday at 17:45 and 20:30.

    Tickets for all cruises are available at the passenger harbour. Schedules are available at the harbour or from the tourist office.

    Saimaan Matkaverkko

    Saimaan Matkaverkko runs cruises to Vyborg and Petersburg with boat/bus combinations to mix up your trip. They can also organise a ‘cruise visa’ for EU citizens (€35) if you can provide them with a copy of your passport at least a week before departure (booking significantly in advance is advisable, as these cruises are heavily subscribed).

    M/S Lake Star Lake Cruises

    In summer, the Savonlinna passenger harbour is one of the busiest in Finland. There are a number of scenic cruises to choose from, with dozens of daily departures during the high season. M/S Lake Star offers one-hour scenic cruises in the Savonlinna area with six departures daily from June to the end of August.

  4. Saimaa Risteilyt Cruises

    Saimaa Risteilyt Cruises at the harbour offers two-hour cruises aboard the 95-passenger M/S El Faro, either around the archipelago or down the Saimaa Canal. Canal cruises depart daily at noon, with an additional 15:00 cruise and a 18:00 archipelago cruise from early June to late August.

    In summer, the Savonlinna passenger harbour is one of the busiest in Finland. There are a number of scenic cruises to choose from, with dozens of daily departures during the high season. S/S Punkaharju offers four to five lake cruises daily from late May to late August.

    Karelia Lines Lake Cruises has two-hour cruises on Lake Saimaa aboard the spacious MS Camilla at noon and 18:00 from Monday to Saturday, June to late August.
