I'm born and raised in Finland and I have travelled quite a bit around the world. Especially in Latin America. Last year when returning a 4 month South-American trip I decided to give back to the travelling communite. Started to do guided tour in my hometown, Helsinki. I started doing Free Walking Tours by myself. Since then I've been lucky to find great people to work with me in order provide quality services for the travellers. This summer we offer a wide selection of things to do…
I'm planning a trip to Finland from 20 dec 2016 to 1 jan 2017 with my husband and parents. We are from singapore and are really excited to experience winter in Finland.
I'm wondering how is the drive from ivalo airport to kirkenes in Norway and if it is worth the trip there for the king crab safari? We have driven in iceland during winter before and the roads are impassable at times. Is it the same for the journey from ivalo airport to kirkenes?
I'm planning to do the husky ride, ice…
I see a lot of people asking when to go to see the Northern Lights so I thought I'd share my blog post - http://www.juliebazar.com/lapland/
I went this year (2016) between 23rd and 30th March and I saw the Northen Lights on two occasions. I also had the perfect conditions to do dog sledding, reindeer sledding, snowshoeing, ice swimming etc.
I hope my post helps people planning for a trip to Lapland in Winter.
Hi. I am currently in Akaslompolo and just getting ideas of places to visit. The weather is not looking too good for the next few days.
Can anyone recommend the following places :
Kittila, Muonio, Pajala (Sweden) Kolari, Köngäs
Just looking at the map for places not too far away.
Is there anything of interest in these places? Are they worth a drive out there? Are there any nice short walks around?
I will be arriving to Lapland in the morning of 23Jun this year in Rovaniemi, and ending my trip in Ivalo Airport in the morning of 26Jun
Are there any suggestions, like a short trek, and beautiful sceneries? Thanks
Hello, we are are looking for any recommendations regarding a 12+ day itinerary for mid December from Stockholm or Helsinki and finishing in either Stockholm or Helsinki. Majority of time to be spent in Lapland area for dog sled/ice fishing/skiing /Santa village for our kids (9 and 8) and northern lights and ice-breaker ship. Places to stay and visit would be appreciated. Thanks.
We are staying in Finland in June for five nights,
We enter Finland from St Petersburg (Probably by bus, or train?)
and We are ending our trip by taking a plane from Helsinki.
Are there any suggestions, like staying in Savonlinna/Kuopio,
and more fundamentally, the route of travel?
Hey guys, I will be travelling with a friend to lapland for 4d3n, probably just Rovanieme. I have done some research that the sunlight is just a few hours during that time of year. Will the sky be total dark after the sunset or shades of blue? How can I have snow activities if its total dark? Any recommendations for best value snow activities eg. Northern light, ice fishing, dog sledding ?
My family and I would like to see the Northern Lights next winter. Which country would be the better place to see them, Finland or Norway? And while I realize the lights are unpredictable, when would be the best time during winter to catch a glimpse of them? Thanks!
