Can I see polar bear in Ranua Zoo near Rovaniemi in February?

Hi all,

I'd like to go to Ranua Zoo near Rovaniemi at the mid February.
Can I see polar bear that time? Do they hibernate?

I will go there by public transport. I check the matkahuolto timetable, and it shows there's one bus arrives at 9:50am in the morning, and back to Rovaniemi at 2:43pm, so there's plenty of time. How long do people usually stay in the zoo, besides the zoo, anywhere I can go?

Thanks in advance!

One day in Helsinki

Hello!
I will arrive in Helsinki with the ferry from Stockholm.
I've been through all guide books so I am well aware or the main attraction but would like to know
If anyone could recommend some hidden gem. A special place or sight that you won't find in any guide books.

Going to st petersberg

Please tell me about the ferry to st petersberg. Im American. I understand I dont need a visa? But do I have to buy a hotel and tour or can I just stay with my Russian friends? I heard a visa from the usa is about $300. Do you know if that is true? Because maybe flying in would be cheaper in the long run since I will be in Turkey mainly.

Helsinki - New Year's Day (Day Trip)

Hello!

I'll be visiting Tallinn for a few days just before and after the new year. I thought I might take a day trip to Helsinki on the first day of January. I realize it will be the middle of winter and that it will be New Year's Day... will there be anything open or much to do and see on a cold winter holiday like the first of January in Helsinki? Or should I just stay in Tallinn?

Any recommendations on things to see during my one day in Helsinki?

lapland and northern lights trip in December with a 2.5yr old

We are travelling from a place with extreme sun most part of the year and not used to the extreme winters.

Wanted to see the northern lights and some friends recommended december to be the best time for it. And also do the santa village and snow activities.

Initially we were thinking Norway and Finland and the tour company told us we could not do it with a 2.5yr old due to cruise and extreme weather. Is it similar case in Finland? Between end december and end March - which would be a better…

Getting around Rovaniemi and Lapland individually

Hi
We are planning to go to Lapland this December and would like to create a nice itinerary beforehand. I can find some good hotels in Rovaniemi at hotel deals website, but I still lacked the info of how to get around the town.

Let's say if I stay in the city center, how would I go to:
1) Raindeer farm and ride a raindeer sleigh and snowmobile safaris?
2) From point 1, how do I go to husky farm?
3) From point 2, how to go to Santa claus village?
4) Finally, how can I get to artic circle at…

Ideas for a weekend trip from Helsinki towards north

Hi,
We are looking for ideas for a middle-October weekend trip from Helsinki towards north by car. We are seeking for a picturesque place with possibilities for easy nice walks. What kind of accomodation can we find at this period? Sauna is essential! Although we don't have much expectations, given the short time and our 2.5 years old daughter, we would like to get, as much as possible, the feeling of remoteness, wilderness and, if possible, to see the northern lights. For the moment we are…
