Lonely Planet review

The architecturally lovely thatched bure with hard-wood floors, woven walls and louvred, netted windows are among this region’s most luxurious and are definitely the most classy. Mattresses have been imported from Italy and beds are draped with gauzy white mosquito nets and topped with Southeast Asian embroidered linens. All units from the private honeymoon suite to the stylish six-bed dorm complex have giant open-to-sky bamboo showers. All this wonderfulness sits in an artfully landscaped garden complete with fruit trees and organic veggies, and there’s a lush white-sand beach out front. Meals are made with the Italian owner’s family’s olive oil and organic produce and the homemade gelato is worthy of a Roman gelateria. This place is mostly meant to be a fishing lodge but diving (with nearby Mai Dive) and so many other activities are on offer, anyone would be happy here. At night watch movies on a full-sized movie screen and hang out with charming Piero and his Fijian girlfriend Vuli.

Our independent authors have visited Oneta Resort and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Kadavu Group.
