Renting beach accommodation for a week in Yap?

I will be arriving in Yap in two weeks time for one week of vacation with my wife. It seems that nearly all hotels are in Colonia, and we'd prefer to have accommodation somewhere on a beach, where snorkeling would be possible right outside. Are there any such beach houses or huts - A/C would be appreciated - available on Yap?

Ship from Pohnpei to outer islands

In December/January I'd like to go from Pohnpei to the outer islands of Kosrae, Mokil, Pingelap, Sapwuahfik, Nukuoro, and Kapingamarangi. While I have read on several occasions that there are vessels leaving infrequently for this 10 day journey, I have not been able to find out when exactly the vessel departs. Extensive internet research and repeated mails to the Pohnpei harbour authorities did not yield any result.
Anyone has done this trip and could give me some information? Any advice would…

Fiji - worth it?

Hey there

My sister and I (mid 20's) are looking for a mid Australian winter break on the cheap and with the crazy flight prices to Fiji at the moment we're considering a week there. Looking at anytime between May-July for 7-10 days.
Don't want to be near boatloads of cruise and resort goers, prefer off the beaten track a bit and just want to unwind on the beach for awhile.

If anyone has any suggestions we'd love to hear it!
Thanks

Yap - update Dec. 2014 not diving

There are two ATMs connected to the international networks in Colonia. Bank of Guam and Bank of FSM both have one.
At the ESA Hotel credit cards are accepted and there is no surcharge for paying with them. I recommend the ESA by the way. Very well run and value for money for Pacific Standards. There are cheaper options though. The Pathways Hotel / Restaurant is closed for renovations.

I also stayed in the Village View resort up north which is on the beach and ok. Their rate of 75 US plus 10% is…

Hello all,

I'm having trouble to find information about the beaches in Micronesia. So far I learned that there aren't really nice beaches on the main islands of Chuuk (Weno) and Pohnpei (except Ant Atoll).. On Google we can see that there are apparently some beautiful beaches on the main islands of Yap and Kosrae, but can anybody confirm this? If yes, which ones and are they easily accessible for tourists? I'm planning a trip to Micronesia in 2015 and I'd like to choose 2 islands, mostly the…

Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

I am planning on spending a couple of weeks travelling FSM this summer and am finding that any attempts to book or plan are met by a great lack of available information. I am aware that United are the only airline that travel and am preparing myself for the large dent that those flights will create but was looking for any advice on which order it is easiest to fly to the islands in (from Guam), are there specific days they flights go (united website is being very unhelpful) and does…

yap, 1st week of feb, prebook a room?

I prefer to just arrive, find a convenient bed for the first night, then check around in person the next day for the place I like the most. Is that feasible? Any chance there wont be any available rooms?

Thanks for any input.

cheers
