We are a family with 3 children thinking to visit the islands August 2017. The children will be 10, 7 and 1.5. What is a suitable amount of days would we need to see the islands properly? We love nature and hiking. Are there day walks we can do with the kids? We had traveled to iceland so we are not afraid of walking in rainy weather. Are there any "atractions" suitable for kids? We will appreciate any information you can spare.
I will be heading to the Faroe Islands in March was wondering does anyone know what the weather will be like? What should I take regarding clothes? And can I do when I get their?
I'll be getting into the islands the afternoon of Oct. 3 leaving the evening of Oct. 6 and my base camp will be a hostel in Torshavn. I was trying to avoid renting a car but looking over the forums it might be necessary to see as much as possible in the short time I'll be there. Does anyone know if there are scooter and/or bike rentals on the islands or is it just cars?
Also, I'm a 31 year old female and would love to meet a new travel buddy and potentially split the cost of a rental if anyone…
Hi! I did a quick search but looks like most people travel to FI before Sept. So my questions is has anyone visited early November? How was it?
I know the weather will be hit or miss but I'm ok with that. Even if the weather was slightly bad, would you be able to do some of the hiking? I assume if it snows, the hiking trails would be too dangerous.
Looking for a travel buddy if anyone is going there Nov 3-8.
Is it possible to hitch a ride with cars going onboard the Smyril line from Denmark? It is with most domestic Danish ferries, but i wonder if it is also doable with the Smyril when leaving a danish port?
Coming from Iceland by boat, we will arrive in Torshavn around 3AM. But our AirBnB check-in is not before late morning.
Do you know any place ok to stay untill then? Any recommandations welcome!
I'm a 26 yr old female from Montreal, Canada who will be in the Faroe Islands traveling solo in September. I would be interested in meeting up with some fellow travellers or locals. If anyone would like to join me for some hiking, dinner/drinks, music shows, or anything else, send me a pm :)
I'd also be interested in maybe renting a car and splitting the cost with someone.
I'll be there from Sept 6 - Sept 26 and will be based in Torshavn.
I just left from Faroe islands 2 weeks ago. It is very misty there, the fog covered the cliffs most of the time. I could not see the full view of most of the islands. Local people said it is always foggi around nation day (end of July). Some said May usually has good weather. Anyone knows if it is true?
Am planning a trip to Northern Scotland and the Faroes starting in early August.
I am not flying this calendar year and need to get to Torshavn by sea as flying is not an option.
I see that ferries run frequently from Denmark and Norway, but I dont want to leave the UK (starting my trip from London).
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a ferry that goes to Torshavn from mainland Scotland, Kirkwall or Lerwick (Shetlands and Orkney)?
My wife and I only have 3 full days to work with for a Faroe Islands trip. We will be there from Sunday night until Wednesday and I was wondering how I should plan this trip.
First of all- is it worth going for 3 days? I think yes (as I will be in grad school next 4 years and wont have much vacation time)
Must I book all hotels in advance?
Is there a guide book to show us the highlights?
I am asking for a bit of hand-holding here. But am happy to be sent to do some more homework.
