Am planning a trip to Northern Scotland and the Faroes starting in early August.
I am not flying this calendar year and need to get to Torshavn by sea as flying is not an option.
I see that ferries run frequently from Denmark and Norway, but I dont want to leave the UK (starting my trip from London).
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a ferry that goes to Torshavn from mainland Scotland, Kirkwall or Lerwick (Shetlands and Orkney)?
My wife and I only have 3 full days to work with for a Faroe Islands trip. We will be there from Sunday night until Wednesday and I was wondering how I should plan this trip.
First of all- is it worth going for 3 days? I think yes (as I will be in grad school next 4 years and wont have much vacation time)
Must I book all hotels in advance?
Is there a guide book to show us the highlights?
I am asking for a bit of hand-holding here. But am happy to be sent to do some more homework.
I am staying for 4 nights 5 days in mid septemver in Faroe Islands. I was wondering if there is anything going on during this period. I wanted so see puffins but read they will be gone in September, also many boat companies wont be operating so i was wondering which activities are there to do... i like nature but i find september to be difficult for taking any tour....
Hi Guys,I have 3 nights 4 days in the Faroe Islands from 27th May. I am based in Torshavn and plan to do day trips, do you have any recommendations of things to see and places to go? I plan to use public transport and hitch hike, how's the public transport system between the islands. Also, how regular are the buses between the airport and Torshavn?
Thanks for any info in advance!!!!
Hello, we will be travelling for 8 days with a baby and we wonder if it is better to sleep in one place (Torshavn?) and drive to visit sceneries and hike or change home base everyday. Advices are appreciated! We are not sure if driving will take most of the time....
Regarding the car rental, Sixt seems to be the cheapest option but I would like to know if there are alternative local agencies. Thank you
I am planning a visit for Late June/July and while I will probably rent a car so I can explore a lot, I don't love changing accommodations every couple of days and would prefer to just pick a spot or two to use as home base. It seems like the islands are small enough that I could stay in Tórshavn the whole time, but I was thinking of staying in one other place as well. Maybe Klaksvik? Any recommendations either for towns or specific guesthouses/hotels? I mostly just want a relaxing vacation with…
I'm planning a spontaneous trip from London to Faroe Islands, then to Iceland. Though not necessaryly on a budget I wanted to know what the most affordable option was to get to Faroe Islands first. It looks like there are some flights from London to Faroe Islands, but on the pricey side, with very limited flights. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
We have a stopover on the Islands for 3 days. Could you suggest where to go, what to visit, short hikes?
And would it be the best to stay in Torshavn and travela round for day trips (we don't have a car) or would it be worth to stay somewhere else?
Most topics in the Faroer forum have been posted quite some time ago so I'm curious about an update. I'm going there from August 25th till September 4th, together with my friend. We will bring tent and sleeping bags. We are looking for budget accomodations (hostel, guest house, couch surfing, camping).
At some places I read information like 'options to stay are limited so important to book ahead' and at some other places I read things like 'go to the local tourist information and they…
