Taqueria
You won’t find fresher, limper (they’re not supposed to be crispy!) tacos anywhere in London and that’s seguro (definite) because the ‘Tacory’ (for lack of a better translation) makes its own fresh corn tortillas next door – as you’ll see through the window. It’s a small casual place serving Mexico’s favourite street food. The last time we visited, the Mexican embassy was having a party here.

Café Du Pont
There's no question this is a kitschy spot that takes the movie scene a little overboard - all the entrées are named for classic films and TV screens periodically play previews. Still the cavernous place (think industrial) has a feisty vibe. The mostly American menu serves lots of Tex-Mex, pasta, burger and seafood dishes with better than average results. A favourite with the expat community, it's also a good (and noisy) spot to bring the family.

Texas City
You'll find excellent enchiladas and gourmet guacamole at this adobe-walled place adorned with authentic Americana including quirky curios like an 1844 framed certificate for the Ladies Fort Hill Total Abstinence Society (from alcohol that is; but don't let it put you off your margarita). It mainly caters to a local clientele, hence portions aren't Texan-sized.

Glue Pot
Only the French genius for eclecticism could have created this Irish pub, which doubles as a Tex-Mex restaurant that serves burgers (the Big Boy has an egg on top) and pizzas to patrons seated on bright red banquettes under fake Tiffany lamps. The menu is in English with French translations. Believe it or not, the food is pretty good!

Veszti
It hardly serves what you'd call haute gourmande food, but this jack-of-all-trades eatery, on an atmospheric old riverboat on the Mosoni-Danube River, has everything from Hungarian mains to pizza and Tex-Mex. It attracts a fun crowd and the service is right on the ball.

Pacos
OK, maybe Tex-Mex isn’t exactly what you expected to be eating in the middle of Sweden, but the fun decor and chirpy music at Pacos make for a nice change of pace, and the lunch specials are good value, especially the pizza-pasta-salad buffet (Skr79).

Cómico
This offbeat basement restaurant is an American-diner type of place, with burgers, steaks and Tex-Mex fare, happy Finnish families, and old movies screening. It's not sophisticated, with a colourful, plastic feel, but the portions are generous.
