Ölüdeniz Beach & Lagoon
The beach is very much the centre of things here; it's at the bottom of the hill past the package-tour colonies of Ovacik and Hisarönü. Near the junction of the road with a jandarma (police) post and opposite the post office is the guarded entrance to Ölüdeniz Tabiat Parkı and its lagoon, still a lovely place to while away a few hours on the beach with mountains soaring above you. There are showers, toilets and cafes here too.

Beaches
- Kaş, Turkey
- Activities › Beach
Büyük Çakıl (Big Pebble) is a relatively clean beach about a kilometre from the town centre while Akçagerme Plajı is a public beach opposite the exit to Gökseki, along the main road west to Kalkan. İnceboğaz is a shingle beach at the start of the peninsula. But the best idea is to hop on one of the water taxis (TL10) in the harbour and head for one of three beaches on the peninsula opposite at Liman Ağzı.

Beaches
On the isthmus leading out to Isla de las Palomas, tiny Playa Chica lives up to its name. Spectacular Playa de los Lances is a different matter, stretching northwest for 10km to the huge sand dune at Ensenada de Valdevaqueros.
The low dunes behind Playa de los Lances are a natural park and you can hike across them on a raised boardwalk from the end of Tarifa's concrete promenade.

Patara Beach
Backed by large sand dunes, this splendid, 18km-long sandy beach is unique for the region. You can get here by following the road for 1km past the ruins, or by turning right at the Golden Pension and following the track waymarked with blue arrows, which heads for the sand dunes along the western side of the archaeological section. Between late May and October, wagons pulled by tractors (TL2) trundle down to the beach from the village.
On the beach, which is hardly ever crowded (even in the height of the season), you can rent umbrellas (TL4) and sunbeds (TL3) and there is a refreshment stand providing shade and sustenance. Depending on the season, parts of the beach are off…

Antique Pool
The sacred pool – nowadays, the separate-ticket swimming pool in the Antique Pool spa's courtyard – has submerged sections of original fluted marble columns to lounge against. The water, which is abundant in minerals and a more-than-balmy at 36 degrees, was thought to have restorative powers in antiquity, and may well still do. In summer, it's busiest from 11am to 4pm. Budget-wary travellers can enjoy the faux-travertines at the public pool at the base of the hill by Pamukkale.
