Spartak
Basketball is a popular winter sport, but loses many of its best players to the American professional leagues. The top local basketball team is Spartak, though it has not fared very well in Russia's basketbolnaya super liga (basketball super league). They call Jubille Sports Palace home, a 7000-seat stadium, and they play here from October to April.

Dinamo Sports Palace in Krylatsky
This 5000-person sports centre was built in 2006 for MBC Dinamo. Resembling a giant spaceship, the state-of-the-art facility gives spectators two humungous screens to watch and a magnificent central cube-shaped scoreboard. Take bus 832 from the Krylatskoye metro station.

This 7000-seat stadium is home to the local basketball team, Spartak, who play here from October to April. Buy tickets at the stadium box office or at a teatralnaya kassa (theatre kiosk scattered around the city).

A top Moscow basketball team, TsSKA, is champion of the Russian league and also does well in the European league. Some of the best play and games come from the TsSKA women's team, which plays from September to May.
