Tour description provided by Intrepid

Travel to Ethiopia, the land of our ancestors and the home of the awe-inspiring Simien Mountain Range. Remaining one of Africa’s true hidden gems, this collection of emerald valleys, jagged gorges and sky-scraping rock formations provide a unique trekking experience that is well off the beaten track. Beginning in Ethiopia’s cosmopolitan, but distinctly African capital, this trek takes you across lowland plains, through narrow valleys and to the heights of Ethiopia’s highest mountain – Ras Dashen. With a jaw-dropping scenic moment around every corner and plenty of rare wildlife lining the trails, this one-of-a-kind trek will leave you craving more and more of unforgettable Ethiopia.

Day 1 Addis Ababa
More commonly referred to as 'Addis', Addis Ababa lies among wooded hills at an altitude of about 2300 metres, giving it a pleasant climate.
Day 2 Gondar
Historic Gonder is known as the city of castles and palaces. This was once the capital of Ethiopia during the reign of King Fasilidas, who built the first castle.
Day 3 Debark
Standing at the gateway to the Simien Mountains is the town of Debark. Many people pass through here to experience the wonders that these mountains have to offer. With this beauty in its landscape, Debark has some of the most amazing scenery in Ethiopia.
Days 4-5 Geech/Imetgogo
Walk near picturesque settlements and villages, passing Sankabar and a spectacular waterfall before arriving in our campsite in Geech. The next morning, head for Imetgogo, where dramatic views of gorges and the Simien Mountain Range are bound to stun.
Day 6 Chennek
Awesome scenery lines the trail to our camp at Chennek, which is spectacularly located in a beautiful valley at the foot of Bwahit Peak.
Days 7-8 Ambiko/Ras Dashen
Ambiko is the base for our ascent of Ras Dashen - the roof of Ethiopia. The views from the summit are out of this world.
Day 10 Mekarebya
Spot birds and enjoy picturesque views on the path to our camp near the remote village of Mekarebya.
Day 12 Gondar
Successive kings added their own stone castles and palaces to Gonder's fascinating royal complex - earning the city its lofty nickname: the Camelot of Africa.
Day 13 Addis Ababa
Addis has an interesting array of sights to explore, including the Ethnological Museum, a stunning fossil collection at the National Museum and the chaotic bustle of the city market.
