Just want to recommend a very nice tour guide in Addis (and for all around Ethiopia): Kibruyisfa Melaku (Kibru)!
I don't usually hire guides, but when I met Kibru in the hotel I was staying I decided to spend a day with him and never let him go! He is very trustful and helpful and knows the best way to travel around cheaply. I even left my luggage at his place while went to Lallibela (I was on my way to Europe with a big suitcase) and had the chance to meet his mom and sis, very nice…
I have a 12 hour layover at Addis Ababa airport. I have no problems hanging around and keeping busy at the airport, although this is my first time at Addis Ababa. I know African airports tend to be smaller than those in Europe and I wanted to make sure I will be able to stay in the airport terminal over night. My flight gets in at 10pm and the next leaves at 10am so it's not ideal for me to leave anyways. Any suggestions?
I will be in Addis next Friday and will stay for almost one week . Im a budget traveler and want to join any group that interested in nature and wildlife so I can reduce the cost .. any plans or trips ?
Arrive and depart from Addis Abeba
Couple of days in Debre Zeit
I (50 years old Dutch guy) had the wish to visit Ethiopia for a long time but did not decide to go for it until recently. If I can convice my wife to come with me we'll be travelling with two. Otherwise I'll be on my own. I really appreciate tips! Hope to hear from you!
Hey there! I'm spending a week in Ethiopia at the end of June and was looking to fly to save some time. However, flights on Ethiopian seem crazy expensive (350 USD for a 45 minute flight?!) - though I read that it would be cheaper to book the flights once inside the country, is this still true?
(I'm flying Kenyan Airlines into the country, so unfortunately no discount for me)
Hi & yes, I was there twice: 6 days in January 2011 & 5 days in November 2015. Both expeditions rank amongst the most challenging and most expensive ones I have ever undertaken. But nothing, nothing will ever take away these memories: each day brought a new highlight, each minute something unseen, unique and spectacular!
So if you are looking for information on this unique place, I made a little summary of my experience, and what have changed between the 2 trips (and a lot changed!). Do not…
We had a small cloth bag containing a kindle stolen last week whilst in the Simien Mountains. The items have now been recovered & are in Debark - however, we aren't! We're in Lalibela at preset, returning to London on Saturday.
Is anyone in Debark/Simien at present or in the next week or so that might be able to assist us with the items' repatriation?
Hi! We're stopping for a day in Addis Ababa with our kids and are wondering whether the area around Cameroon and Leland Streets is OK for walking around (in daylight). Seldom have I felt so clueless :-) so thanks for any tip!
