I have 7 days, 6 nights to spend in Ethiopia and would love some advice choosing between the following two itineraries. The first is the classic route that I'm sure is popular for good reason, but I've also heard great things about Harar...
Basically if I choose Harar (option 2), I'll only have time for one of the following: Bahirdar, Axum, or Gondar. I chose to keep Gondar, though am open to changing this.

The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa informs U.S. citizens of reports of a series of grenade explosions in the city of Gondar in recent weeks:
On April 1, a grenade exploded at the Florida International Hotel.

On April 20, a grenade was thrown into a private residential compound.
On April 24, a grenade exploded at the Lodge…
Hy i am an lebanese architect visiting ethiopia in mid may (18-23).
Any tips for what to visit and where to go.
Wouldn't mind a cool company if anyone is there around that time.
Thinking of doing a one day hike if weather permits it.
Cheers . Waiting for your reply.
I'm thinking of doing a 4 day hike in the Bale National Park in the first week of July. I've been quoted 450 USD for one person all inclusive: park fees and camping fees , guide , pack horse and horse assistant , food , etc. basic plan is to start in Dinsho and end up at the Sennati Plateau. The guide comes highly recommended but i'm not sure if the price is right, but if anybody has any experience of doing a similar hike in the park how does this price hold up? And is it worth doing in…
I'm doing a 2 week trip in the first half of May in Ethiopia and I'm wondering if anyone else is doing the same and wants to join me. My plans are flexible, but I definitely want to do Danakil. I'm landing and returning from Addi.
Any hostel/hotel recommendations for Addi where I can meet other solo travellers would be appreciated too :)
I'm going to Ethiopia, hoping to do the historic circuit in about 10 days, in mid August 2017. Can anyone who has recently traveled through Addis and to the north comment about current travel safety, the current political climate, and internet/ communications availability. The US state department's travel warning and the 2016 human rights watch report have me second guessing my travel plans. I'm wondering if things have settled down since the 2015 election and what the risks to tourists are…
Hey All, I just got back from three months in Ethiopia. I have an extra guidebook that I am realizing would better serve someone in their hands rather than on my bookshelf. Its the Seventh Edition Bradt Guidebook to Ethiopia. (This is the one: https://www.amazon.com/Ethiopia-Bradt-Travel-Philip-Briggs/dp/1841629227/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1492625915&sr=1-1&keywords=ethiopia+bradt+guide )
It's free. I won't even charge you shipping and handling because I'm like that :) Just pay it…
I need an update: Which tigrai churches can a female visit?
I an a farenji female and will be with Ethiopian, orthodox female friends.
I really want to go, but need exact info which one we can get in!
I aim to be in Ethiopia next January and wonder which would be the best place to be for Timkat - I am thinking either Axum, Lalibela or Gondar.
Any feedback gratefully received.
Axum is unfortunately skipped my many people with tight schedules, but it really is a must-see when in Ethiopia. The town oozes history, so much that photos cannot do it justice. Although the history of Axum is relatively unknown compared to other destinations, it's rich and extremely impressive.
