We had booked a tour through Western, Northern and Eastern Ethiopia with EVG and made a deposit for the driver, Geta. Due to an illness, we are unable to complete the tour this year, and need to recoup our deposit. Is anyone interested in booking the driver for the time period? The car is also equipped with camping gear (tent and mattresses). Please private message me and I will get you in touch with EVG, Bernie.

Hi All,
We are two women trying to travel to Harar in the morning from Addis Ababa. It seems that everywhere I look there is differing information. Sky uses leave from Mercato or Meskel at 5:30 or 6am. Do they leave everyday?
Also read that there are minibuses that will leave from Meskel, but they guys at Baro Hotel say this is not true.
Sky bus website says they leave only three days a week.
We would like to leave Thursday morning and return for Friday afternoon to meet my friend's cousin back in…

Hi! Hoping someone can help me out with this. My US family will be traveling to Ethiopia soon with two-year multiple-entry tourist visas we have already obtained. While we don't intend to stay two years, we may be there more than 90 days. I believed the two-year visa meant we could stay as long as two years, should we decide to. My husband says he thinks we can still only stay in the country as tourists for 90 days at the most. I can't seem to find any detailed info on this on the embassy…

I’m planning on backpacking West Ethiopia, starting late September, getting off the beaten path. Interested in exploring, hiking, outdoors, nature, culture and interacting with locals.
This is my current general plan:
Addis -> Jimma -> Chebere Churchura NP -> Mizan Teferi -> ?Southwest to Maji? -> North to Gore/Metu ->Then either west to Gambella and fly back to Addis or back east through Bedele and Nekemte.
I’d love to hear any suggestions/tips and places of interest in the area.
Specifically I’d…

Hello everyone,

I write this to get some advice: I am planning to travel to South Africa via Ethiopia and I was wondering whether a 2-week itinerary would be good for Ethiopia? Or should it be 3-week? What places should I visit? I am not a true backpacker and don't want to do camping et. al. However, hostels are fine for me and I certainly don't want to spend a fortune on high-end tours and hotels. Any ideas are much appreciated. I like natural attractions, historical places, etc. Thanks…

HI

I am travelling through Africa on my motorbike and expecting to enter Ethiopia via Moyale next Friday (29/7).

I've been on the road for a couple of months and have just caught up on the UK foreign office advice for Ethiopia which is a bit concerning (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/ethiopia).

My concerns are:

  1. Moyale to Yabello: I am intending to enter Ethiopia via Moyale. This states the road was damaged badly in April. Is there any local information about whether this…

I am a single adult traveler looking for fellow trekkers interested in joining me on a 15 day journey through Ethiopia, starting in Addas Adaba and hiking through the Simien Mountains. I am arranging it through Awaze Tours. I prefer not to trek and eat by myself (with guides) although would have my own hotel room and tent during the journey. Would really love some company. If you are interested please reply. And if you know anything about Awaze Tours I would be interested in hearing it.

Shootings had been going on day and night in Gondar, the tourist capital of Ethiopia, since around July 8. Dead bodies on the street & mass protests. The Ethiopian government is trying to prevent this information coming out, by blocking social media such as Viber and Facebook.

Here some images of the unrest:

Does anybody have personal experience with http://www.eyayawtours.com/? I'd be curious about some references before booking with him (and transferring him money in advance)...
