Hi there,

I'm planning to travel to Ethiopia with a friend in August/September. We are wondering how to arrange our dates to avoid continous rain in the Simien mountains.

Best fitting our schedule would be flying to Ethiiopia from Germany around August 24 and stay there for about 3 weeks. I heard most people do the circuit clockwise. Why is that? So we would stay in Addis for 2-3 days, go up to Bahir Dar, Gondar and probably get to Debark around September 1 and do a trek for a couple of days…

Hi. Laura and I are two Argentinean travel bloggers hitch-hiking (mostly) from Cairo to Cape Town. We will be in Jinka in about one week, and are looking for travel buddies to share a 4WD with driver for a day to visit one or two Mursi villages. For the rest (Konso, Hamer) we will go arund with public transport.

As far as we know the going rate for a 4WD for one day is around 150 USD. Anyone up for the adventure? :-)

For a taxi? A meal? Some groceries?... Beer?...
Or are dollars universally accepted? Thanks!

Any idea where could we buy mosquito nets in Addis. We are heading south to Kenya and we don`t want to proceed without them!

Hey guys,

Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip to Ethiopia in september.

We were thinking of flying to Addis Ababa in the beginning of september and then travel around the country for three or four weeks: visiting some of the main tourist attractions but also travel a bit off the beaten track. (incl. Addis, Lalibela, Simien Mountains, Harar, Lower Omo valley)

Now we are wondering how the rain will affect our trip.
Should we worry about that? Does it make the travelling difficult or…

I just finished trekking in Kilimanjaro and plan to stay for…

I have just received the following news:
If you happen to be in Addis from June 28- July 5, there is continental art exhibition which will take place at the Oromia cultural center (in front of the national stadium). The exhibition is organized by the Ethiopian ministry of tourism. Paintings and handicrafts by renowned Ethiopian artists will be on display.

Day trips

Just read this online

"A group of three took a day tour out of Gonder to the Simien Mountain National Park. We arranged this with Birhanu Erko (birhanu48@yahoo.com) from Trip Advisor. He runs a local tour business. They had a van pick us up, and drive us the 3 hours to the park.

The scenic drive and van's driver, Adam were very nice. At the park Adam arranged for a scout and we paid our entrance fees. We took two hour long hikes in the park. The first was along the edge of the mountains, the…
