We are a group of 10 friends, travels at Ethiopia at May 2017 for 8 days.
We start at the Tigra region, travel to the Amazing Dankil desert with its active volcano, mineral springs and salt mining.
At the Garalta area we claimed a good clime to a couple of magnificent Creches, with a scenic view.
Hiked at the amazing park Simian Mountain ,with amazing views and a lot of wild life around as,
it was a magical trek.
The Simian part took as three nice days and we had excellent service form a grate tour…

Hi All

A friend of mine and I are in Ethiopia from June 20-29, arriving in ADD. We plan to fly to mekele on 22nd in the morning to head to the Danakal depression and if the time is right head to Axum before we fly back to Addis.

Two requests:
1. Anyone traveling this route around our dates and would like to join/invite us?
2. Any reputable travel agents? We are hoping for a budget to mid-range option.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Mel

I arrive in Ethiopia on 31st of July and I want to go to Omo valley as soon as possible. I have been looking for tours and they are crazy expensive. If I take the bus to the area I still cant get to the villages without a local guide. It seems I am stuck? Has anyone on here got any suggestions? Either solution to going solo or a realistic priced tour?

I'm planning to visit Ethiopia for 6 weeks and would like to know some basic info

Is it safe to travel just two female?

Is it difficult to move around by public transport and without a guide?

We can only travel during August and September. Is it worth even though the weather conditions are not the best? Do you know what are the temperatures in the north and south?

Are six weeks enough to do the north route ( landing in Addis Ababa - Bahir Dar - Gondar - Simien Mountains - Tigray - Lalibela)…

We are two 20-year old female backpackers, and we are going to travel for four weeks in Ethiopia, starting from the beginning of September. We start in Addis Abeba, and have no plans yet. We have some questions, if someone could advice us that would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Are there a lot of backpackers? Is it easy to decide where to go once in Addis Abeba or should we make arrangements on beforehand?
  • We have to be in Nairobi by the 28th of September; by public transport preferably…

Hello! We are a couple planning to travel to Ethiopia (north and south) from 13 to 29 june, aproximately. The travel is organized by a local travel agency. We would like to share it with 1-2 people to make it cheaper for all of us.
If anyone is interested, feel free to contact me!

Does anyone have any advice for how to cost effectively ship large, bulky items from the US to Ethiopia? My brother who is doing PeaceCorp in Ethiopia wants to adopt a dog that another volunteer abandoned. To fly the dog home, he needs to have an airline-approved crate. I guess another way to ask this question is, does anyone know any pet stores that ship to Ethiopia?

The crate itself probably only weighs 15 or 20 lbs, but it's bulky due to the rigid plastic (32" x 22.5" x 24" assembled; 32" x…
