Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip to Ethiopia in september.
We were thinking of flying to Addis Ababa in the beginning of september and then travel around the country for three or four weeks: visiting some of the main tourist attractions but also travel a bit off the beaten track. (incl. Addis, Lalibela, Simien Mountains, Harar, Lower Omo valley)
Now we are wondering how the rain will affect our trip.
Should we worry about that? Does it make the travelling difficult or…
I'm a solo traveler planing a trip to lower Omo valley starting from september the 12th . I'd also love to visit both Mago and the more remote Omo national park to see Mursi and also Surmi people among others.
I'm in contact with a trusted guide from Jinka.
If anyone is interested in the trip please do not hesitate to contact me.
hi I'm interested in joining a group or finding another traveler to share cost hiring a car/guide/accommodation etc. I have been to Addis Gonder and Lalibela as a solo female traveler and I had to fight for "fair treatment" every single time... Anyway, I'm interested in visiting Southern tribes esp. The Hamar and Jumpjng the bull ceremony and also Danakil Depression. If you are interested, please send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org. I just finished trekking in Kilimanjaro and plan to stay for…
I have just received the following news:
If you happen to be in Addis from June 28- July 5, there is continental art exhibition which will take place at the Oromia cultural center (in front of the national stadium). The exhibition is organized by the Ethiopian ministry of tourism. Paintings and handicrafts by renowned Ethiopian artists will be on display.

"A group of three took a day tour out of Gonder to the Simien Mountain National Park. We arranged this with Birhanu Erko (email@example.com) from Trip Advisor. He runs a local tour business. They had a van pick us up, and drive us the 3 hours to the park.
The scenic drive and van's driver, Adam were very nice. At the park Adam arranged for a scout and we paid our entrance fees. We took two hour long hikes in the park. The first was along the edge of the mountains, the…
In late May 2016, I completed the trek from Simien Mountain National Park HQ to the summit of Ras Dashen, Ethiopia's highest peak. We finished the approximately 90-km trek in 5 days. I post this review for those interested in doing this trek, as information can be scarce and difficult to find. Above all, keep in mind that the lowest elevation on his trek is about 2,700 meters - so it's important to acclimatize properly. Also, due to the many ups and downs along the route, the complete trek to…
Planning to go to Somaliland in December. Does anyone know if the embassy/consulate is open after the Western Christmas Holiday and before the Western New Year's in Addis? Looking at getting my visa on 27 December or 28 December. Need the visa for land border crossing from Djibouti into Somaliland.
Any knowledge/feedback/advice - it is highly appreciated!
I would like to organize a trip to the Bale mountains with an emphasis on wildlife and the Harenna Forest.
Leave June18 afternoon or June 19 morning from Addis.
Return to Addis June 21 afternoon/evening or June 22 noon.
Anybody who want to join is welcome.
