Is there a good transport link from Tallinn's airport to its main bus station, or should I just take a taxi if I need to get from one to the other relatively quickly?
I realize I could just get a bus from the airport to the centre and then walk to the bus station, but I won't have a map and last time I was in Tallinn I got kind of lost trying to walk from the Old Town to the bus station without one.
I'm thinking of travelling through the Baltic States through late Nov-Dec, cold I know but in line with my uni holidays and wanting to see snow and experience hopefully things like the Christmas Markets in Tallinn.
What I'd like to know is how much do the cities and in particular the public transport shut down over the winter months? Will I have trouble finding (mainly) trains that run and is there likely to be interruptions?
any advice on this and also on must-see sights is welcome
I am planning a potential travel to Latvia and Estonia at the end of October.
I will flight to Riga, spend few days and go to Tallinn.
I might want to go to Helsinki to spend a day . I've just looking some price for a ferry journey, I saw the return ticket for about 45-50€ . It is not cheap, and I wandered if there is some way to find any cheaper journey ?
Question n°2, considered this important budget, does the visit to Helsinki worth it ?
I'm headed to Talliinn, from St Petesburg in late September. I've then got five days to get to a flight from Riga!
I wondered if anyone had suggestions on the best way to travel overland... I was thinking the train? Has anyone got bad or good experiences?
I'm also searching for some suggestions of where to stay in Talliinn. With such little time am I best to stay there or somewhere outside of the city? Ideally we'd like to be close to the water...
I realise this is a bit vague, but…

Billed 300 EUR by Fastrent for driving on non asphalt road. In May we rented a car for the day from fastrent, in Tallinn, Estonia. After we signed all the paperwork and were about to depart the lot, the attendant said do not drive off asphalt road. One national park destination did take us onto a well maintained national park non aspphalt road. Fastrent fined us 300 EUR for driving off asphalt via GPS tracker - a well embeded/hidden line in clause 6 of 33 on the rental agreement. Lesson -…
