Lonely Planet review
New to the scene in 2011, this promising hostel shares an old factory with a bunch of creative enterprises, some micro museums and a bar/nightclub. Run by urban greenies with a commitment to recycled materials and sustainable practices, Looming (‘creation’ in Estonian) offers smart bunk-free dorms and private rooms, an appealing roof terrace, bike rental (per day €10) and a sauna.
Our independent authors have visited Looming Hostel and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Tartu.
Description provided by property
Looming Hostel is one of the first and only environmentally friendly boutique hostels in Estonia.
'Looming' in Estonian means 'Creation or artwork' - that's why everything is in constant change here.
Looming Hostel offers a new artistic style of accommodation in Tartu - cosy, warm and clean guestrooms are all created by different artists - everything we use for decoration is 99 % reused! We prefer natural materials, small ecological footprint, creativity and fun!
Our guestrooms and large common room are located on the attic floor of Young Estonian Creativity Center - where you can see and visit different workshops, concerts, events, fairs and festivals. There is a printing and a paper museum nearby, the building is also a home to a second-hand boutique, wood-workshop, designers, tailors and fashion designers.
There is a kitchen for self-catering, with all the necessary equipment, free WiFi everywhere, free parking, large common room with hammocks, sofas, books and games and a cozy sunterrace.
Looming is an animal-friendly hostel, so bring your pets with you!
NB! We require a refundable deposit of 10 € (in cash) per key.
