In September, I plan to travel from Tallinn to Saint Petersburg. Unfortunately, there is no direct flight between the two cities and I'm leaning against the train because I don't want to arrive in St. Pete's at midnight. That leaves me with the bus.
I'm not thrilled that it's a 6-7 hour trip that will take up a good chunk of the day. I was therefore thinking of stopping off in Narva for a visit, maybe even an overnight. I was curious if anyone would recommend it or if I…
Whilst visiting friends in Helsinki in August, we'd like to take the ferry to Tallinn for an overnight stay.
I don't think we need visas for Estonia (with US passports), but am unsure whether to find a place
to stay in the city centre, or outside, closer to the airport or beach? How far is the airport from the
city; any suggestions of a clean but safe and inexpensive place to stay, either a hostel with private room
or low-cost hotel? What about attractions or special sights in or around Tallinn…
We'll be in Estonia for 2 weeks in July and we'd like to rent a car. Could anyone recommend a rental enterprise? We're travelling with a 2 year-old kid, so we'd need a child seat, too. Besides, we'd like to rent a car with full coverage insurance.
I am an American citizen going to Estonia. I intend to go to Tallinn by ferry from Helsinki, go to Riga, and fly back to Estonia. Do i need a visa of some kind since I'm going to be twice in Estonia on the same trip?
About 2 weeks we will leave for a weekend to Tallinn!
As we have a rental car, I was wondering if somebody could advise on local saunas / bath house around or outside Tallinn? Just the one which it's populair for the locals :-)
BTW: I read a lot about Narva, positive and negative..is the drive from Tallinn worth to get a bit of russian experience?
Thanks for your help!
Hi ladies and gents,
In a few months I will be visiting Eastern Europe and Estonia is part of my trip. After reading the forum how it's hard to talk to Estonians, how I will be avoided, how I can't talk to them randomly and have a nice conversation, It's starting to make me think twice to go there.
I usually don't go to group tourist guide because I feel like I don't get the best feel of the country so I do my research myself and go and "make friends" with the locals but if Estonians are so…
Hello everyone! Omg it's been 15 years since i was last on here. That's a long time since my last trip..geesh..time for more travelling:)I was looking to get some advice. Three of us are planning a trip to the Baltic countries for 3 weeks. We were thinking of hiring a guide to take us to many parts of these countries and to explain the histories and the cultures. We looked online but most of the tours are with large companies that all go to the same sights. We were looking for a longer tour and hope to see out of the way places that represent the differences of the countries. Perhaps we need to hire a different guide in each country. Any ideas are…
