  2. York, England – Another Fascinating Surprise

Blog: Hole In The Donut - 18 August 2011

Aloof, humorless Brits; dingy gray cities and streets choked with tourists – that’s what I expected to find in the UK. Blog: Quillcards - 26 March 2011

Back To Waterloo Lake I have been making some loose panoramas, including some of Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park, Leeds. I call them ‘loose’ panoramas because of how I shoot them. Articles and tutorials on how to make panoramas by blending a number of photographs say you should place your camera on a tripod. Then [...]Going Back To Waterloo Lake is a post from the Quillcards Blog

It’s been awhile since I took a trip in the UK. I’m really good at getting out of the country, but I’m not so good at staying in it. That trend changed over the weekend, though, when a friend’s play in Leeds gave me an excuse to head north. Having already been to Leeds, I [...]

  11. Lady Watches the World Cup in England

    Blog: A Lady in London - 14 June 2010

It takes some searching to find the best place to watch the World Cup. When the last World Cup took place I was still living in San Francisco and still working at Goldman Sachs. One day my boss, a South African and one of the few non-Americans in the office, somewhat un-mysteriously disappeared to find the [...]

  12. Lady in Leeds

    Blog: A Lady in London - 1 February 2010

Today I took the fastest business trip of my life. I wanted to meet with a client up in Leeds, but the best prices on train tickets were only available if I arrived in Leeds just before noon and departed just after 2pm. After a bit of indecision, I bought the tickets, agreed to hold the meeting with the client at the train station, and hoped for a delay-free train trip.

  13. Lady in York

    Blog: A Lady in London - 1 February 2010

Last time I was in York it was the summer of 1988. My mother, who has a notorious sweet tooth that has most definitely skipped a generation, bought me a giant pink peppermint stick with the word YORK emblazoned across the top.
