Leeds' only five-star property is this magnificent neo-classical house set in its own grounds just outside the village of Oulton. It has all the trimmings, from a suitably grand staircase to a modern leisure centre with pool.
This is your chance to live as the landed gentry did in centuries past, as you sweep down the grand staircase through the gloriously high central doors, past the gilded portraits hanging on the walls. Only you're carrying a gym bag or a set of golf clubs - or a blackberry and a laptop. Whether you're here on business or pleasure (and we hope the latter) this magnificent hotel has everything you could possibly need, from meeting rooms and conference centres to a par-71 golf course. The gym facilities are top-of-the-line, the square-shaped pool is more for fun than fitness but it does get busy at weekends. The bedrooms are very handsome, but they don't quite live up to the luxury promised by the OTT grandeur of the public areas. Still, Oulton Hall is a five-star hotel because it provides a top-notch service through and through; this stunning place is worth every star.
