    In the streets near our apartmentStrange timing has seen us chase winter around the world this year, with a brief, humid interlude in Philadelphia before we left for Europe.Here in Nottingham, autumn has quickly given way to winter. A couple of weeks ago the leaves were yellow and still falling, and now the trees are almost bare. I have a feeling my most enduring memories of England will be of naked, spider-y branches silhouetted against the low, sullen sky. I really hate the English sky! Always so grey.
