Lonely Planet review for Skinny Sumo

Frills are sparse, but taste is plenty in this basic, highly regarded white-tiled Japanese café-restaurant with a sushi-bar conveyor belt.

    Now called Bonsai Noodle Bar

    robertwgordon recommends this,

We visited the Bonsai Noodle Bar after a recent change of name and ownership to see if Nottingham could offer some fine Japanese cuisine in the heart of the city.
Not being an expert on Japanese food we picked a set menu to try a few different dishes and get a general idea about the quality of food. The service was very attentive and friendly and most certainly authentically japanese. Anyway, the food began arriving in stages and soon we had eaten through probably 6 small courses and had no idea where half of this was mentioned on the set menu. It is still a mystery to us if what we were served was what we actually ordered but you will hear no complaints from me. It was all fantastic with a range of tastes and textures that really made it a pleasant dining experience. The decor is much improved from the previous ownership and at the time of our visit the paint was still a little wet so we were given cute Winnie the Pooh placemats to make sure we didn't get any accidental drops of paint on our clothes. I would recommend to anyone.
