Lonely Planet review for Alley Café
This pint-sized café-bar has created quite a buzz with its excellent, globally inspired vegetarian and vegan dishes, not to mention its funky DJs and tunes. It is hidden down an ancient back alley. Seek it out.

Right up my Alley!
beverleyk recommends this,
When in Nottingham, I won't eat anywhere else. This hidden-away little gem serves the best vegetarian and vegan food to be found within England! The vegetarian sausage and fresh tomato omelette is light, fluffy and filled with a flavour that leaves you wanting more. You can choose from a range of vegan fillings but the sausage and tomato is unbelievably tantalising.
My husband is not vegetarian and is usually terrified of any meal that doesn't contain meat, but even he will eat Alley Cafe's Breakfast. Again, you can choose from several options, sausage, ham, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, hash browns and all are cooked to perfection. We used to have many problems when eating out, finding somewhere mutually acceptable, so to find Alley Cafe saved many marital arguments!
The staff are always clean, polite and very helpful with any requests. The cafe itself has a delightful amibeince and is always spotless - a pleasure to visit.
I have taken several out-of-town friends there and everyone raves both about the meals and the interesting and refreshingly different range of drinks, and starting from just £2 a shot, very competitive.. If your favourite cocktail isn't on the board, the staff will make it for you at no extra charge. Where else would you get that?! The Bailey's Ice Cream shake is deliciously refreshing, or, for the drivers, I recommend the yogurt lassi.
You do not feel hurried to leave when your meal is over, and you get the feeling that the staff were genuinely pleased to assist you.
