    Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

Housed in the annexe at the back of Council House, the outstanding Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery displays a breathtaking collection of ancient treasures and Victorian art, including an excellent collection of major Pre-Raphaelite works by Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones and others. The museum's other standout draw is part of the Staffordshire Hoard, a treasure trove of 7th-century Anglo-Saxon gold, unearthed near Lichfield in 2009.
