Lonely Planet review for Bar Estilo

A rustic chic interior - all terracotta, dimmed lighting and plush sofas - makes this bar-restaurant the venue of choice for the Mailbox smart set. The Mediterranean-influenced menu - the same as in the restaurant's London-based siblings - is reasonable, especially at lunchtime.

    Expensive for what it is

    mrkriss does not recommend this,

The food isn't great, especially given the inflation of the prices. And a bottle of wine is hideously priced!

Skip the bar, but don't miss out on the food

    lauren313 recommends this,

Bar Estilo is set in the heart of the upmarket Mailbox complex - but don't let that put you off! Whilst some of the Mailbox restaurants carry with them a pretentious air, upon entering Bar Estilo, you'll feel instantly warm and welcome.
You could enjoy drinks at the bar, but to be honest, they're expensive, and surely you'd much rather get on with the main event - the food!
Whether you are visiting for a quick lunch (be sure to check out the lunchtime tapas specials - two dishes for £5.95) or an evening meal, you will find something to suit. They offer mouth-watering mains, as well as a fantastic selection of tapas dishes. Ok, so it's not exactly the kind of tapas you would find in genuine Spanish tapas restaurants, but it's delicious all the same. Portion sizes are great, however if you're still hungry (or have a sweet tooth!), try one of the many desserts - they're to die for!
Bar Estilo's great city centre location means you're close to the other attractions and nightlife of Birmingham. It may not be the cheapest place to eat out in the city, but it's certainly one of the most enjoyable.
