Menu Gordon Jones
Gordon Jones is the name to watch in Bath. Previously head honcho at the uber-expensive Royal Crescent Hotel, he's since branched out with his own pocket-sized restaurant, which has already earned him critical plaudits aplenty. The multicourse 'surprise menus' are dreamt up by Jones on the day, and showcase his taste for experimentation, both in terms of ingredients (smoked eel, seagull's eggs, samphire) and presentation (test-tubes, edible cups, slate plates). The pop soundtrack and minuscule dining room won't please everyone, but the menus are incredible value considering the skill. Jones is destined for big things: book now while you can.
