I have a 10 hour layover coming and going from Heathrow's terminal 3. There's a Yotel in Terminal 4 and a lot of hotels close to Terminal 3. Which would be the most convenient so that I can get the longest sleeping time?

My girlfriend and I are planning a working holiday to the UK next summer for 3-4 months, planning to work at least 3 months.
We are Canadian so we are eligible for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme, which is good for 2 years. This is the only visa that I can find that would suit our needs however, it is longer than we need. The cost of the visa itself doesn't bother me (£225 or $450 CAD each), it's the health surcharge cost. The health surcharge is £200/year, so for the 2 years the visa is good…

My sister, Elle, and I are going backpacking through Europe in August. We're spending three days in London. Does anyone have suggestions for cool things we can do that aren't super tourist-y?

We like live music (house, electronic, rock, indie, etc), dancing, architecture, nature, historical sites, drinking, food, and books, among other things. We're also really interested in meeting people in the countries that we visit.

Also, if anyone is traveling in August and wants to meet up, let me know!

Hello to those who know much more than we!

So, going on a short trip to England and have only ever visited London. The plan is to land and train it somewhere south (Crawley, Farnam, Ashford?) to pick up a car, but that is as far as we have gotten. Here is what we do not want to do: spend time in cities, bedroom communities, or shopping.

We would like to find two home bases for three days or so each, to sample historical architecture, villages, churches. Some hiking, but not a 'hiking holiday'…

Visitors to the Far East have for long been warned that they might be overcharged for rickshaw rides, but Londoners have now learnt from their Thai cousins. A video shows some tourists being charged 206 pounds for a one-mile journey: the police appear, but it seems that the transaction is entirely legal.

I just want to have this verified as I´m travelling to London early October. Can I use my oyster card on overland trains instead of having to buy a normal ticket as usual. I will be either travelling from London Luton or Gatwick airports into central London. I read on this page http://www.thameslinkrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/oyster/ that you can use your oyster card from mid September, but is that included in airport trains (I´m talking regular trains - not the Gatwick express)?

Thank you in…

If anyone knows..

I have a ticket to England from San Francisco. Was thinking of taking a bike with me to take to Mallorca, Spain.
I'd get a separate ticket on Easy Jet from Heathrow to Mallorca. Can you ask the airline to transport the bike to the other airline? Or do you have to claim it and take it to the gate yourself or check it yourself? How does that all work?

Thanks.

If you've travelled the world - or even some of it - and want a taste of some of it without leaving London, or if you want a flavour of where you're going oin your next trip, come to the square this Saturday, between 12.00 noon and 6.00pm.

It's the annual Eid festival (end of Ramadan) and muslims from all over the world will be not only performing on stage but also selling food from the myriad countries where Islam predominates - Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.

Hello,
I will arrive at London to tour Europe. I will be visiting France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and back to U.K. to fly back home. I need a mobile sim card preferably a pay as you go type for emergency calls only and data for google map. I presently use a Samsung Quatro (quad) having double sim cards.
Can you recommend a best card that will serve me for above purpose and available for free at Heathrow terminal 2? I may require it at airport to contact transfer…
