We are spending 2 nights in York on our 3 week trip, but will only have 1 day to see the sights since we will arrive in the evening. My plan is to take the free walking tour in the morning, eat some lunch and then see the Castle Museum. My husband likes to shop, so we will have to allot time for that on Stonegate, (I think that's the shopping street/district), plus see The Shambles. Are the stores open in the evening? I know I'm missing a lot, so I want to know if I should substitute something…

We are having trouble trying to buy tickets from Lymington to Yarmouth online (from US)...we enter everything but it gets spit back each time because of improper phone numbers (I think). I have tried our US numbers, our friends numbers in London, all kinds of numbers...but nothing works; nor does leaving it blank.

Does anyone have suggestion? Or else, the likelihood of problems (or success) if we just show up (on a June Sunday afternoon) to buy tickets right at the ferry in Lymington? We're…

I'm planning a visit to the Lake District in early-mid August and will not have a car. I'd like to base myself in 2-3 villages with hostels and take easy to moderate day hikes. Can you recommend towns that have trails easy to reach from the hostel/village on foot? Or buses if necessary? I prefer villages that have YHA hostels, as I'll travel solo but like to meet people and perhaps do some hiking with others. Thanks!

Hello. I'm going to England August. I wanted to see if anyone knows where the best place is to see this meteor shower. Here is a link to info on it the meteore showers. This one is supposed to peak on the 12th and 13th of August.

I know there is an observatory where you can make a reservation (and they bring you hot chocolate and such and blankets to watch it) I was wondering if there were any other good places with low…

My husband and I will be moving to Cambridge, UK, in July 2017.
Having never been there, as we are moving there from South Africa, can anyone please give advice on cost of living for 2 as well as a good location to rent.
I will be working as a professional, travelling around the city for work, but offices based in Station Place.

We want to budget beforehand, based on my starting salary, how much we can pay on rent, so need some help on what to expect to spend per month on necessities like…

I'll be in London from July 2-9. That coincides with Wimbledon...and I used to be on my high school tennis team. I might want to treat myself to tickets. A colleague mentioned that they're hard to procure. "We got last minute standing room tickets." She made it sound like it was a combination of luck and cunning.

So how do I get tickets? What are these last minute tickets (do they come at a discount or something?). I'd love to do this...if it's reasonable!

I'm going to spend a week in London at a place in Shoreditch. No day trips. Just a city experience. I hear there is great vintage in London. In my city, Los Angeles, my favorite shop is called American Rag. And it's truly an emporium of wonders where everything is almost mint and they carry all categories. They even rotate stock each season.

You do pay a premium for that. But it makes the vintage easy to find and the experience quite amazing. Also, a week is all I got, so I can't just…

I'll be with a group of 25 people in London in March. We'd like to go on a guided walking tour, visit the Tower of London and Mme Tussaud's, over two days... The London Pass won't suit our purposes. Does anyone know of any group discount cards/ fares available? Most of the passes I've researched seem to be offered by private companies and don't offer specific group discounts.

Thanks

I'm doing a week-long birthday trip to London with wife. We are in our mid-40's. We spent a huge part of our youth backpacking as budget travelers. And now we are professionals who still like value in our vacations. I'm sketching out a budget for a 7 day trip.

We will be staying in Shoreditch, at an Airbnb that is basically the equivalent of 100 bucks a night. I usually only buy one major souvenir per trip. And I might push it a bit by going to vintage shops. But mostly it's us doing…
