Here is a link to a recent newspaper article about a bus journey across the Yorkshire Dales national park. It sounds wonderful. Note that the bus only runs once per week, so if you want to do this trip then plan in advance.

The article also has a link to a recent TV programme which filmed the journey so that you can watch it in real time. I suspect that you have to be in the UK to watch the programme (or else use a proxy): if anyone abroad manages to watch it perhaps you could comment saying…

My husband and I are visiting England for the first time. We're arriving early morning Oct.8th and departing afternoon of Oct.16th. There seems to be so much to see and do but I think I've narrowed it down to the following:

Day 1 - arrive at Gatwick Airport. Pick up rental car. Visit Stonehenge and Bath. Sleep in Cheltenham
Day 2 - tour Cotswold area. Sleep in Cheltenham
Day 3 - tour Cotswold area. Sleep in Oxford.
Day 4 - tour Oxford. Sleep in Oxford
Day 5 - return rental car and take…

Hi
Does anyone know of cheap or local bus services from Heathrow to Loxwood or Billingshurst in Sussex.
National Express has ridiculously high prices and google fails to return anything but their fares....
Thanks

I have need of a vehicle for 3-4 days in mid October 2016 whilst in Japan. ( to travel from Tokyo to Motegi and back again. )
Unfortunately the issue of International Driving Permits is only valid for three (3) months at a time and must be obtained in person from the country I am from. ( I am British but have moved since march 2015 to Indonesia ) and I have virtually retired here with my wife.
alas .I have no intention of going back to the UK to purchase the IDP as required and whilst all my…

I’ve been back in London for a couple of years, but I’ve yet to take proper advantage of the city’s amazing Open House weekend – a two day event where buildings not normally accessible to the public open their doors and allow visitors: http://www.openhouselondon.org.uk

I’ve submitted my application for the public ballot (Downing St, The Shard and the Arcelormittal Orbit), so I’m keeping fingers crossed for one of the three… and – if successful – will probably structure the rest of my weekend…

No specific criteria, just name your top 3 favourite English towns/villages, preferably with a reason for each.

Mine are as follows:
1. Ludlow, steeped in history, borders Wales so good for trips.
2. Wells, has the perfect balance of history, is a market town and reasonably priced living.
3. Chipping Camden, a golden bricked village that is unique to the area.

We notice on the web site there is actually nothing listed under things to do and attractions actually in the town of Kingston Upon Thames Surrey. Here are Ten suggestions

Richmond Park
Clattern Bridge
Coronation Stone
Canbury Gardens
Riverside Walk
Turks River Boat Trips
Kingston Museum
Kingston Ancient Market Place and House.
Rose Theatre
Bentalls centre

Hampton Court is nearby but is actually in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames

Team GB

I was just looking at the olympic medals table and saw that there is a team GB.
I was wondering why there are no individual countries listes such as England, Wales and Scotland.
By contrast, there is no team Scandinavia, no team Australisia etc.

When it comes to football at an international level, there is the English Team, there are also the Scottish and Welsh Teams, but there is no team GB there.
I find it somewhat inaccurate and misleading and as a consequence, GB is high up on the medals…
