Looks like my wife will have a 12-13 hour layover at Heathrow in March. We've never spent time in England, other than at the airport, and wonder if there is anything we could do in that area rather than just sit and be exhausted at the airport? We're older, but adventurous... Is there time to go into London, or some other destination, with good connections from the airport? Thanks!
I'm heading to London in mid December and wanted some suggestions on what to do, I've been looking a lot into it and I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with all the options for things to do! I am a bit of a book worm, with Dickens being among one of my favorite authors, so I definitely want to check out the Charles Dickens museum along with the Sherlock Holmes one and for my middle school self, take my picture at platform 9 3/4. With that being said, I wanted some suggestions of great…
This isn't strictly a travel query, but thought I'd try and find some local knowledge to tap into, and Thormtree has come up trumps for me in the past, so...
I'm filling out a D1 form, to apply for a provisional driving licence. I'd prefer not to send my passport off to the DVLA if I can help it, and have been told that some post offices will check all the documentation for me, so I don't have to. Does anyone know of any London post offices that offer this service? I read somewhere that they do…
Looking for some hints and tips for our London trip in mid January. I'm bringing my girlfriend for her 30th as a surprise to see the Lion King in Lyceum Theatre. We're staying a total of 3 nights in Hyde Park Westminster area, and have half a day before we fly back on a Saturday.
What I've planned so far is:
(a) first day I've nothing planned!
(b) second day go to showm, during the day nothing planned
(c) third day go to London zoo, do something after that (like what!) go out for a…
I'm hoping to take a BA flight into London Heathrow and transfer to a BA flight to Dubai within a 2 1/2 hour layover time frame. Problem? No problem? If I do miss my connection, will BA automatically arrange for me to be on the next available flight? Thanks!
recently I went to stay in London again for a couple of days. I'd like to share with you my experiences and perhaps you'd find it interesting and appealing too. :-)
I stayed in a pretty hotel in Kensington close to Earl's Court Tube Station (3 minutes walk). It's called "The Rockwell" and obviously doesn't belong to a chain like Best Wester, Ibis and Co. It was a cosy small single room but I felt comfortable in it.
It's situated close to Hyde Park - such a great place to go for a run!
I'm planning to go to Stonehenge with a group of teenagers (15-17) and I was wondering if you can suggest any apps, games...that we can play in the bus and can help them learn as much as possible about the site?
I found [an online] quiz [about Stonehenge] and I was wondering if you can suggest anything else at all?
Hello everyone, I'm in need of help in making a decision again. I am confirmed for April 3 (Friday) to May 3 for my accommodation in Paris but haven't finalized the booking yet. Also haven't booked a flight for Europe yet, I will be coming from Los angeles. This will be my first time in London and my 4th time in Paris. I need to be in Paris 4 days/wk but my weekends are free. London, I bet, is a very beautiful city, and I wanted to see it, although I know this will just be my first. I want to…
I'll be in London on November 8th, and just found out that the Lord Mayor's Show will be on that same day.
Is it worth going? Is the city too caotic on that day?
Thanks for the help!
