Bath Abbey
Blog: Quillcards - 25 July 2011
Inside The Abbey On the several occasions that I have visited Bath, I have looked to see whether Bath Abbey was open, but it never seemed to be. So when I was passing one morning recently and saw that the great wooden doors were open, I grabbed the chance and went inside. Bath Abbey doesn’t [...]Bath Abbey is a post from the Quillcards Blog

Kid-Friendly Luxury at Woolley Grange
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 5 January 2011
Luxury hotels in the UK, can be a bit precious and stuffy. Most claim to welcome kids, but the staff look edgy every time a pair of tiny mucky fingers paw the ancient suit of armour by the foot of the stairs and watch you like hawks at every meal time in case a stray ketchup covered pomme frite hits the priceless Persian carpet. Luckily, not all top UK hotels are like this, but weeding out those ones that really do welcome you and your little entourage with open arms ...

I Usually Don’t Like Baths
Blog: No Hurry Curry - 8 July 2010
7/1/10: London, England Today is a sad day. LeBron is no longer a Cavalier. (Well, at least for the time being.) Oh, and it’s the last full day on our honeymoon. I’ve told myself that there will be plenty of time to reminisce in the coming days and weeks, so I’m going to try to [...]

Lady Visits Bath
Blog: A Lady in London - 5 June 2010
My mother is visiting, so yesterday my boyfriend and I took her to Bath for the day. We got an early start, but still met with surprisingly big crowds on the train from London. I think I take it for granted that most of my UK train travel is done on weekdays when it's not uncommon for me to have an entire train car to myself. Nonetheless, we fought our way through the carriages and managed to find seats for the journey to the Roman spa town.

Fancy a dip at the Roman Baths at Bath?
Blog: Heather on her travels - 27 April 2010
Although I live in Bristol, a city that has plenty of interest for the visitor, the smaller city of Bath attracts many more visitors, with elegant Georgian architecture and the major attraction of the Roman baths. As a local you seldom visit the tourist attractions on your own doorstep and sometimes wonder what the fuss [...]

Duck Race in Bath (UK)
Blog: The Corny Traveler's Chronicles - 11 December 2009
I wasn't aware of the concept of Bank Holiday before I reached UK, and it was on my first Monday in Bath. Anyway, a surprise holiday is always welcome *grin* and I went down to the main town for a shopping expedition when I came across this exciting race happening at the Pulteney Bridge. I'll try to capture the event in a few pictures..

Bath Skyline Walk
Blog: The Corny Traveler's Chronicles - 16 November 2009
It all started with the idea of going for a walk. This mostly happens when you are clumsy enough not to book tickets and make plans for 'nice' places, and you feel suffocated staying at your lodge because its a weekend. So, we decided to go for a walk. Luckily for us, one of our friends in the university had suggested us to go for the 'Bath Skyline Walk'. And surprisingly, we even found a map for the path or trail of the walk on the net. So, we started.

The ‘Bed and Breakfast’ rip off
Blog: Travellerwill's blog - 2 September 2009
I often spend weekends away with my partner, travelling around and seeing Britain’s outstanding countryside and cities. We often stay in that great British institution the B & B, the Bed and Breakfast, where you are in effect a guest in someone’s home. Many of these are very elaborate and comfortable, often in historic houses [...]
