Lonely Planet review for Alma de Cuba

This extraordinary venture has seen the transformation of a catholic church into a Miami-style Cuban extravaganza, a bar and restaurant where you can feast on a suckling pig (the menu heavily favours meat) or clink a perfectly made mojito cocktail at the long bar. ¡Salud!

Features of the the original building - including stained-glass windows and devotional art - have been cunningly incorporated into Alma de Cuba's design. A real highlight of the recent redevelopment of central Liverpool.

nice place, but the songs sometimes kinda old fashioned

    angela_van_kales recommends this,

My first impression of the place was the ancient architecture of an old church really interesting..
I actually went there for the bar and also want to try a place with latino ambiences.. I found it nice, but the songs played is not so 'latino' sometimes. I thought the drink will be so expensive, but it wasn't. The prices is still acceptable.

    fun atmosphere

    cristina_uk recommends this,

Alma de cuba is situated in an old church - an usual place to go for a meal. Yet the surroundings give it an amazing atmosphere emphasised even more by the cuban and latin american theme. The place does get very busy - especially at the weekend so you are best booking to not be disappointed. The food ranges from a choice of Tapas to a full A La carte menu. The restaurant is upstairs above the bar area - a few drinks downstairs after food is highly recommend, especially the cocktails!
