Hilton hotels have long since stood for the kind of glamorous hotel experience known only to bustling executives looking to make deals on both sides of the Atlantic at the same time. When this Hilton opened, it took the riverside by storm and put Gateshead firmly on the business visitor map.
Ok, so that particular image of a Hilton hotel is about 20 years out of date, but the hotel group haven't stood still. Their Newcastle creation (sorry, Gateshead) is an excellent example of the kind of high-grade service they offer today. The location is terrific, on the waterfront just over the Tyne bridge in Gateshead, a short Metro or bus hop from Newcastle city centre. The tastefully decorated modern rooms are built for business and pleasure: high-speed Internet lines and Sony Playstations are standard throughout. The well-equipped business centre and the Living Well health club ensure that you don't have to go far to work and work off the day's trials. The restaurant and bar make full use of the location, so you can dine within the impressive sight of the Tyne and its bridges.
