    National Theatre

This is the nation’s flagship theatre complex, comprising three auditoriums: the Olivier, the Lyttelton and the Cottesloe. Opened in 1976 and modernised to the tune of £42 million a decade back, it’s been undergoing an artistic renaissance under the directorship of Nicholas Hytner. Backstage tours, lasting 1¼ hours, are also available. There are six daily Monday to Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. Consult the website for exact times.
