The 380m-wide circular O2 cost £750 million to build at the end of the last century. Once the definitive white elephant – derided as the 'Millennium Tent' – it finally found its calling as a multipurpose venue hosting big-ticket concerts, sporting events and blockbuster exhibitions. There are dozens of bars and restaurants inside and you can actually scale the outside with an outfit called Up at the O2 .
